We are delighted to welcome our new pastors, Revs. Colin and Heather Cress. They will be combining their gifts to serve both here and at Covenant Partners, and it appears to be a perfect fit for all of us.
A joint assignment like this isn’t new to the Cresses. They previously served four churches: Morristown, Carrollton, Fairview, and Shelbyville First UMC. They’re still working out exactly how they’ll share their responsibilities here. Their focus right now is getting to know everyone.
Colin grew up in Terre Haute. He attended DePauw University and the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. He seems to thrive on connecting with people and is a problem solver. Heather is originally from Memphis. She attended IUPUI and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. She is in the process of being ordained. Heather expressed excitement at our ministry opportunities with the campus so close. Both are eager to begin their work here.
The Cresses have two children: Emerson and Charlotte. Emerson will be a freshman at Muncie Central. They hope to get a spot in the school band. Be sure to ask them what instrument they play! Charlotte will be in fourth grade at East Washington Academy. She loves soccer. Ask her about her Green Thumb award—perhaps she’ll have a chance to be involved in our mission garden.
This is a brief introduction, but more information will be forthcoming. Be watching for opportunities to get together with the Cress family over the next several months!
